This map depicts the Holy Land from Egypt to the Land of Nod, noting the biblical towns,
mountain ranges & river systems as referenced in the Book of Genesis. The Tower
of Babel, Mount Ararat with Noah's Ark resting on land (beneath
the upper right cartouche), and Jacobs Journey
to Mesopotamia are shown. To the right of the Tower of Babel is ''Paradys'' with
scenes of Adam and Eve in Paradise and, further right, being banished from Eden
(The four colorful corner vignettes depict these scenes in greater detail). The
large lower center vignette shows Noah's
Ark during the flood. On the sea is depicted the legend of Jonah and the
whale. |
