Set of Four 18th Century Windsor Chairs

A matched set of four comb-back Windsor armchairs. In ash and beech with saddle-shaped seats out of
elm. The front legs appear to be a primitive attempt at a cabriole shape; some of those front legs end in pad feet and others in a slipper. They are connected
to the turned, splayed back legs by H-stretchers. The back legs of two of the chairs are turned to simulate bamboo. Retaining a wonderful color and patina. For a similar example, see Bernard D. Cotton’s English Regional Chair, page 271, plates SW31 and SW32.
