Description: |
|
Exceptional checker & chess board with a black painted background, gilded checkers and a gilded, Greek key boarder, flanked with floral designs and crowns. Note the carriage-painter quality pin-striping in scarlet red and chartreuse. Made ca 1870, the paint has a tremendous craquelured surface that scores a solid 10-out-of-10.
Dont be fooled by the crowns, which represent the kings in each game, not English Origin. This is an American board, found in New England. |
