   INDIAN BEADWORK BELT, ca 1900


 

Description:
Turn-of the century, beaded, Native American belt with flag images.

Mounting: The textile has been hand-stitched to 100% cotton, black in color, that has been washed to reduce excess dye. An acid-free agent was added to the was to further set the dye and the fabric was heat-treated for the same purpose. The mount was ten placed in a black-painted, hand-gilded and distressed Italian molding. A shadow-box was created to accommodate the buckle. The front is u.v. protective acrylic.
