Educational Programs

Antiques Council members participate in educational events at Council-managed antiques shows; the events include lectures, guided tours, and informal "booth chats."

The fully descriptive labels required to accompany all antiques offered at the shows provide valuable detailed information. Novices and collectors alike use them to learn about specialized areas in their fields of interest.

In 1995, the Council instituted the FOCUS program for which dealers/members contribute descriptive, illustrated papers about items that are remarkable in some way, or about entire classes of antiques. Currently available in the FOCUS section, these articles may describe quality points or provide other insights into the acquisition process that will assist the buyer in choosing quality antiques.
