| Antique English Silver Plate and mahogany gallery style Tray, hallmarked shield for 1894. The large slightly ovoid rectangular Tray, set in the centre with a silver shield, hallmarked for London 1894 and engraved with the crest for Baynes - `a cubit arm erect, vested az., cuffed erminois, holding in the hand a jawbone arg; and motto `Furor arma ministrat� �Fury supplies arms for Baynes. (Ref: Fairbairns); together with inscription � Presented to Mrs Baynes By the people of Montserrat in grateful recognition of her Husbands services and of their esteem and regard March 1894� The border plain with interior bead border, open elongated tubular style handles. Measures: approximately 25 � x 16 x 2 inches. Note: Edward Baynes was Commissioner of Montserrat from 1889 � 1900. |
