MERRYMEETING CAMP SIGN, BATH, MAINE, 1900-1920:
Description: |
Painted blue and cheddar yellow, this stamped tin sign with a pointing hand reads: "Merrymeeting Camp, Bath". Merrymeeting is the name of a bay--really more of an estuary where multiple rivers converge--in the State of Maine. The sign gives directions toward a camp by that name in the town of Bath, Maine, which is located within the Merrymetting Bay region.
A fun sign with attractive form and colors and useful double-meaning. I have had this in my log cabin for several years with the finger pointed in the direction of the powder room. |
