Blue painted paymaster or school master's desk, ca 1840, with willowy tall, turned legs ending in trumpet feet on a stretcher base and the most terrific blue paint that a collector of American painted furniture could ever with for. This is an 1860-80 surface with great patina over an earlier taupe. Pine and Basswood construction. Probably Maine. |
