RARE, LANCASTER COUNTY, RIBBON SILK QUILT
Unusual fan quilt with piecework that resembles ties or sun rays. Made from ribbon silks and velvets, ca 1870-1890. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin. Probably Mennonite. A masterpiece of Pennsylvania German folk art.
Mounting: Professionally mounted on a stretcher frame, on black fabric, in a plexiglas, museum box frame. Can be hung square or on the diagonal for greater effect. |
