| Antique 18th Century Georgian Silver swing handled Cake Basket, London 1787 by William Plummer. The oval shaped Basket on pedestal base with reed design border pierced surround with vertical arch style pales, the upper section of basket with outer reed design border pierced and engraved with oval foliate motifs at intervals. The interior centre of the basket plain, reeded swing handle, marked with lion passant on underside. Basket fully marked. Overall Length: - 13.5 ins. Width: - 9 ins. Height: - 11 inches. Overall Weight: - 28 oz. William Plummer is renowned for pierced Silver articles, and his work was almost entirely restricted to Cake Baskets, Sugar and Cream Baskets, Strainers and Coasters all exemplifying the wonderful quality of his pierced work. |
