Life size statue of the Venus Genitrix, by the Brussels firm Blaton-Aubert, which produced very high quality reconstituted stone garden ornament in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The original of the Venus Genitrix, now in the Louvre, was found near Naples in 1520, and was itself a Roman copy of a Greek bronze created in the fifth century, and was part of Louix XIV’s collection at Versailles. |
