Description: |
|
Unusual pair of late 19th century Italian cast iron beds in the Rococo taste. Found in Naples the bed’s stunning footboard is centered by a large scalloped shell with deep bands of mother of pearl inlay, sheltering two fully formed and well detailed bronze birds. The headboard with broken arch pediment, centered with a smaller inlaid shell that repeats the theme established in the footboard, is flanked by ribbed finial top columns, the front face of each inset with mother of pearl inlay. Signed on each foot board: Fratelli Pesce Fabricante, Napoli. |
