A Barr, Flight & Barr Worcester Faux Marble Centre Piece or Fruit Stand,
Circa 1800-10
The shaped footed Centre piece has a blue faux marble ground with a wide gilt band to the rim and foot and with well painted circular panels of flowers on a dark ground with a marble table to one side..
Dimensions: 14 inches x 7 1/2 inches height.
Reference: Flight and Barr Worcester Porcelain: 1783-1840, Henry Sandon, see page 76, plate 59 for an illustration of a faux marble desk set decorated with shells. The pen tray is of a very similar canoe shape to this centre pieces. On page 72, Plate 54 a pair of cups and saucers are illustrated with a faux marble ground and a central roundal decorated with flowers. |
