Switzerland,
The hallstand in the form of a powerfully modelled mother bear shaking a tree in which her three cubs are climbing playfully.
The bears are finely modelled and detailed.
Reference:
The model is very closely modelled to one showed in Swiss Carvings: The Art of the Black Forest, 1820-1940 by Jay Arenski, Simon Daniels and Michael Daniels, page 107, #167 which they date circa 1870 and mention that it was originally retailed by Ed. Binder & Co.. |
