Very unusual caged ball whimsey in the form of a lantern. The rectangular 'lantern' with a large ball caged within the four corner supports which inturn contain two cages each with a ball each section. The whole suspended from a semi-circular handle above a carved swival. Initialed and dated on the bottom M.D.W. 1888
