Carved granite tsukubai in the form of a large block. Each of the four vertical sides carved with a different design. 1) a large carp leaping from waves 2) an egret in flight over reeds 3) an egret standing among flowering water lilies 4) an egret swimming among water Lillis. The top with a semi-spherical central well with a raised rim. The surface with lichen and moss growth. Tsukubai were traditionally placed in Japanese shrine, temple and tea gardens or entrances. Visitors used the tsukubai to wash before entering.
