A substantial, mid-century horticultural oil showing a profusion of brightly-colored flowers including lilies and lupins growing against a background of lush foliage.
This notable American Modernist, muralist and graphic artist first studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Art under Richard von Seitz. After moving to the United States, he exhibited widely and with success including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery and the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. Julius Morsel was the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards and his work is held in the permanent collections of museums in both the United States and Germany.
