Rare pair of 19th century cast iron urns. The bodies are of classic French form and the handles in the form of arched female caryatids supporting floral garlands above their heads rest on everted rims with intricately cast frieze. Traces of later white paint over original blue/grey. This model appears in the Durrene catalogs of 1862 and 1868. |
